Question How to get oil analyzed

I've heard talk before of sending your used oil away to get it analyzed. How do I go about doing this, and how much does it cost?

I'm using Mobil 1 5W30, and my truck will be off warranty next month, so I don't necessarily need to stick to regular 3000 mile changes. I want to find out how often I REALLY have to change it.

Try the heavy equipment dealers like Caterpillar.

You can order an oil analysis kit from www.eastwoodcompany.com cost 24.99 for 1 or 22.99 2 or more. Comes with bottle and prepaid mailer. I've been thinking of doing this myself, just havn't gotten around to it. I have their catalog and it says analysis tracks 18 different elements and fuel/coolant dilution??? If you do order post to board results, service, etc.

Thumbs up

I've used Blackstone Labs and was very pleased with their service. At the time I was driving a Powerstroke and learned of Blackstone on Ford-Diesel.com They are located in Fort Wayne, Indiana, phone number is (219) 744-2380.

If you're a AAA member, they'll do it for free.

I just called the local AAA agency and asked them to send me a kit, which they did. It was all done by mail.
