FWIW, I broke out my fuel mileage by gas supplier just to see if any trends appeared. I have nearly 5 1/2 years of fuel records and an overall long term average of 17.0 mpg over that time period. I only started keeping track of gas brands in about september of '99, leaving me with about 2 1/2 years to work with. It broke out as follows:
Brand: Avg. MPG (# of Fills)
Amoco: 17.1 (44)
Citgo: 17.1 (16)
Conoco: 19.5 (2)
Holiday: 16.5 (20)
Kwik Trip: 16.8 (19)
Mobil: 17.2 (9)
PDQ: 14.7 (1)
Phillips 66: 17.4 (16)
Superamerica: 16.9 (45)
Texaco: 16.1 (23)
I would ignore the Conoco and PDQ numbers since they have only one or two fill ups. I always fill up on 87 octane, even when out west in areas where regular is 85 octane. I've had problems with pinging in multiple vehicles on Amoco 87 octane, but not with any other brands. It doesn't appear to adversely impact fuel mileage though. I was surprised at how low the Texaco came in.
With that in mind, it appears Phillips 66 is the best in my truck for fuel economy, while Texaco is the worst.
