Lightbulb high rise intake for 5.4 !

IS THIS NOT AT ALL FEASIBLE??????????OR BENEFICIAL?????????????????????????????
Just had a thought after looking through my perfromance products catalog that came the other day. They have a Helix Power tower. It raises the throttle body 1 in. It also causes a vortex which adds to the lure but my question is in regards to the one inch elevated throttle body.
On the naturally aspirated engines you could put a high rise manifold and it would add horsepower due to the affect of the air moving in a downward motio into the intake instead of it haveing to turn corners and speed up again. Why couldn't i get a machine shop to take a piece of stock aluminum and bore it out to the exact diamater of the throttle body and put in a five or six inch spacer and really get that air moving down when it goes into the manifold. This would cause a sort of forced air affect would it not? Is this possible and would it have any advantages? If it is possible and if it would have some hp. gains how much of a spacer would be feasable, or necessary to attain any advantages?

01X,

The TBI injects fuel at the throttle body.
Fast moving air will help keep the fuel atomized in the runners. Our trucks are injected in the runners just in front of the valves. Unless the faster moving air is denser it will not gain any appreciable power. Check out the posts on the poeweraid spacers.

Well i guess the answer is no. Hey if the idea is stupid just say so, but in a nice way. Seriously is their any truth to the claims of the Helix Tower spacer? COULD YOU ELEVATE THE TB AND GAIN SOME POWER?????

I don't think JMC was trying to be disrespectful in any way. There's been alot of F150 owners (including myself) who tried the spacer and were disappointed in the "HP claimed" results. All we pretty much got was a whistling sound.
It does work on TBI (a.k.a. Toilet-Bowl-Injection) because it creates a better fuel and air atomization. I also had one on my 94" Chevy K1500 and I did see positive results. Swirling just air isn't gonna make it move faster unless it's compressed or forced in some way (supercharger).
Save your money and buy a K&N FIPK, Airforce One or something similar.

If the idea is "stupid", here you will get an answer like it is not efficient or not good for our engines. At this site you will find the more knowledge and the more educated people than any other site in the web.

Your idea is not stupid since there are no stupid questions. I was looking for the same information at some point. Save your money for the next modification and skip this one until we can get more improvements from raising the TB.

Hope this helps.
