Post Is there a redline point on 5.4L engine?

Just wondering what the redline point was on my 5.4L because tach goes up to 6,000 rpms with no redline indicator. Does it have a safety feaure or something?, which doesn't let the engine redline?

Not sure what it is exactly, but based on the long stroke of the 5.4 and the fact that the stock shiftpoint is around 5000-5200, If Ford were to put a redline indicator it would probably be around 5500 rpm.

However, since the 5.4 peaks around 4500-4600 (somewhere in there), there is no real gain in reving much past 5000 rpm anyway.

I think its called a rev limiter. It keeps the RPM's from going over 6000 rpm. I would not try this but if you want to check it out give you truck a good push of the pedal to around 6000rpms and the rev limiter will make your engine cut in and out. Once again I would not do this test on my truck but I did it on my father N Law truck HEHEHe But dont tell him........lol

Thanks guys just used to seeing redline indicator, the rpm shutoff is a great feature. Hey its a Ford so I would expect only the best. Love my new truck.
