302hp for a 1990 with a 5.0? doesn't sound right to me. Do you mean 302 CI? The 5.0 is 302 CI. Any of the following items will improve performance: Computer chip, K&N or equiv. fipk, headers, dual exhaust, bigger throttle body, MSD or other igntion system. That's all I can think of for now. Check for some threads about the ignition system. I haven't heard much about them but I've heard good and bad.

I had a 90 lariet & nothing I did made that truck run. I put a built up 302 good for about 250 HP in it and the electronics kept it down to about 180 HP. It had shorty headers-cat back exhaust & modified intake. The more I advanced the distributer, the more the electronics retarded timing. If I still had it, I would go with a vacum distributer and 4-bbl carb & do away with the electronics.

SVTFord20,

I have a '95 5.0 in my F-150. Trust me, you will have no problem finding aftermarket performance parts. The majority of Mustang parts will work on the truck, along with other truck specific items.

Depending on how deep you want to dig into your pockets will determine how much you get out of it. The stroker kits are very popular with the Mustang crowd.

You one drawback is that if you plan on doing major work you should convert to a mass air system. Once you get past that hurdle, you will have no problems.

Getting a civil, streetable 350 HP out of that engine isn't at all out of the question.
You might want to post in the Pre 97 area also, plenty of owners with various builds.
