Air Force One install on 2001's
Well, I got all the Ford stuff off in about 15 minutes UNTIL I had to remove the MAS sensor from the housing. The AF1 instructions say to "remove the 2 phillips head screws". The only problem was they were star inset screws, which are different from the regular star bits. They have a center pin also. Ford must have switched the screws for 2001.
Since I was solo, I had to reinstall the OEM filter to get to Autozone. I bought 3 different inset sockets to make sure I have the right size(I'll kill myself if I don't).
Anyway, tomorrow or Sunday I ought to have time to get this in. It shouldn't take long at all, what with all the practice I've had LOL.
I'll post again to let you know the star inset size when I get to it.

Had the same issue on mine. I found that you can break off the insert and use a standard tork bit. Also, I could be wrong on this, but I can't even remember why we need to take the screws out. You end up re-using that part of your OEM airbox anyway.

Well I bought a T-15, and T-25 torx insert bit. It was of course a T-20(which they didn't have in stock). I ended up being 1 for 2 getting the insert out, stripping the head of one screw. I ran out of time and had to go to work. The orig. unit went back in.
I had some time after lunch, and so I cut a groove in the head of the screw I stripped with a Dremel tool. I could then get it out with a flat head screwdriver - which I should have done in the first place.
Anyway, with all my practice I can remove the stock intake in about 5 minutes. The AF1 goes in very easily. Keep rereading the directions as you go along so you don't screw things up. The one thing the directions were not perfectly clear on was where to bolt the support to the engine(goof around a bit and it becomes obvious).
With about 5 miles under my belt now, I'm really happy with it. The engine sounds a bit deeper, especially under throttle. And I notice an improvement in power. Not huge, but definitely noticeable.
