Unhappy Spark plug replacement

I need to replace my plugs and wires and I was told that you have to take part of the fuel injection lines off to get to the plugs. I am fairly handy with cars/trucks but this one I am unsure of. I do not want to spend a bunch of money on just having the plugs changed. Anyone have any suggestions?

Well... I didn't take anything off the fuel injection system except the wires that hookup to the top of the injectors, which is a connector made for easy disconnect. That's all I took loose.

Thumbs up sparkplug change

easy as pie and you won,t need to remove your fuelrail. the only thing you need to pull will be the power junction on the pass. side firewall to access back two plugs. just take off the two mounting bolts and pull it away from the fire wall and away you go.dont forget to dissconnect the battery and prewarming the engine just slightly will help the plugs twist out easily. plus dont forget to take a little compressed air and blow out the plug well so nothing like a ufo(unidentified falling object)drops into the cylinder. lightly apply anti sieze to threads and dielectric grease to boot and the job is almost over. i put a set of bosch plat.4,s in and wow what a difference over the stock plugs. mod. the air box and your set, seen some suggestions on this site but i just pulled the fender end ,cleaned it up ,took a 1" paddle bit and honeycomb it and it worked great, helps keep it,s rigidity, without having to add wireties and such. good luck

Wow, taking the power junction off would have made it a heck of a lot easier to change my plugs! Thanks, but late, I will definitely remember that one next time, though!

Thank you blue_farmer and TexfordD. I really appreciate your help. That saved me about $80. Do those bosch plat 4+ really make a differance? I am currently making mods to the truck. I have put a K&N intake and I am have purchased new MSD EDIS coils. I keep hearing about these chips and how they really make a difference. Does anyone know where I could pick one up fairly cheap? Thanks again!!!

Red face Bosch + 4's

I've got 'em, but in a 5.4. Couldn't really tell a difference, other then they were NEW plugs compared to OLD plugs.

There has been mixed reviews on these plugs from this site and others. Some say they burned a hole in a piston, others say the engine missed and on and on. I've had 'em in for over 23k miles and not a single problem. I've even pulled out "easy to reach" #1 a couple times, just to check, and it's a very nice tan color.

I did notice that most of the "bad" reviews came from 4.6 and 4.2 engine owners..... Don't know for sure, but that's just what I've read..............

I have 97 4.6L and installed the Bosch plat and fouled one after about only 1,000 miles. Called Ford garage and they said naturally to only use Motorcraft plugs. But if I fouled a Bosch fairly quick, they may have something. Also, when I removed old plugs, I bought a set of boot pliers and removed all with very little problem. My truck had 60,000 on it when I tuned up. As far as removing fuel rails, just do what TexfordD says and you should be good to go. I did not remove the fuel rails. Another trick is to duct tape all of your extensions, universal joint, and plug socket together.
