Question flowmaster series ????

I have heard a lot in these forums that certain types of exhaust systems will cause your truck to lose some low end torque. I was wonderin if this is a noticable amount or something not even worth worrying about when i get my exhaust. thanks

I used the stock exhaust with a Flowmaster 40 and a stainless tip. I improved performance slightly without loosing any torque. Also the flowmaster sounds very nice. Has that deep throaty rumble. I like it.
Mine is the side exit but I don't really think it matters as long as you use stock length and diam. piping. The stock pipes are mandrel bent so why pay for something else.

flows

put a set on mine with the split rear out, but i opted for the (forgive me god) 430402 chevy 350 muffler. cruise sounds are minimal above 65mph but below that and it sounds like a big block and mines a 4.6L. makes the young girls look and the older ones... cry

Switched to Magnaflow

Hi

I have a flowmaster 50 series on my '83 and it works good, but I have had more than one replaced due to the seam splitting.

I also know others who have no problems with Flowmasters but then again they don't drive as hard as I do.

I let the guys at Speedway muffler try both the 70 series Flowmaster and comparable Magnaflow on my '01 S_crew.

ompared to the Flowmaster there is a noticeable increase in mid to upper rpm torque with no loss in the lower range(i.e. take off) with the Magnaflow.

Also the Magnaflow has a longer warranty.

The sound is better too.( in my humble opinion)

I put a Flowmaster 40 series on my 2001 Supercrew. I had twin 2.5" outlets on my 98 F-150 and had a noticeale torque decrease. This time I went with a SI/SO muffler and 3" tailpipe. It works great, super rumble, and no loss of off-idle torque that I can tell. There is a drone in the cab that my wife hates, but I love it!
