Post Recieved Vin Number how long for truck to be delivered?

I have a question ordered F-150 12/5/00 and just got the vin number 1/31/01, How much longer do you think I will have to wait until i get truck? By the way the dealer said there was now E.D.T so he doesn't know when it will be in but said the vin number is a good thing? Does getting the Vin number mean my truck is arleady built and needs to get shipped only? Thanks replys would be very much appreciated

What you need to get is the DORA dealer order receipt acknowledgment.

This will give you your dealers code # and with that you can call the vehical order processing center. This will give you the build date.

Dave, the VIN is created before the truck is built so getting it doesn't mean the truck has been built yet but, your getting close.

Very nice truck by the way!
You must have been a lurker here.
Can't believe you came up with that sweet a configuration on your own.

Hi Dave,
Welcome.
Their was lot's of discussion on this subject back around Sept. Try a search on the subject.
When you place a special order, how quickly it comes in extremely dependant on the volume the dealer does with FORD. In my case, I ordered on Sept. 8, 00' and it was on the dealer lot Oct. 9, 00'. Caught me and my sales drone completely off guard. On the DORA mentioned earlier, Their is a dealer priority code ranging form 01-12. Most fall in the 9-12 range. My dealer was an 01 since the guy has 4 FORD dealerships in a 20 mile radius. On the down side, since FORD has cut back production, special orders may be on the back burner, sorry.

Thanks for the help. I wasn't sure if getting the vin ment my truck was built and now that you cleared that up im thinking i should get it in a couple of weeks from now or so because its already been 9 weeks. Factory shut down 3 weeks in december for holday. So in 2 weeks it will be 8 offical weeks 9-3weeks vacation= 6+2 more weeks equals delivery date. Hopefully. Thanks again. Raoul thanks for compliment on truck.

Dave,
You should contact your insurance company and give them your VIN so, that they can start the paperwork. Bugman.
