Post 4.6 liter oil burning

I have a 98 F150 with 87,000 miles on it. It is starting to burn oil at the stop lights. I see a big cloud of blue smoke while taking off from a light. I have been careful about using 5W-30 oil and changing it regularly.

I have also noticed a number of Crown Victoria's doing exactly the same thing!

What do you guys think?

Frank

I forgot to add that the oil use is actually very minimal at 1 quart every 2000+ miles and the engine seems to burn oil just at the stoplight. Do I need a ring job? Or do you guys think that valve guide seals are the problem?

I love my truck and plan on keeping it for many years to come.

Thanks

Frank

If you have 100000 mile warranty let Ford Deal with it now, I Drove around for 25000 miles because mine didn't seem bad but now with 70k and just going to be fixed if it reoccurs then it may be out of warranty these motors should be good for 200k + with good maint.
