5.4L vs. 5.3L

Listen to this, My buddy and I raced last night again.
Me a 99 F-150 Off Road reg. cab flare side. With a 5.4L superchip and Borla exhaust and filter. 11,000 miles (low I know)
He is a 02 Z71 Silverado Ext.cab short bed with a 5.3L, Stock. 4,000 miles

Anyway, when he had 1000 miles on we raced and I beat him by 3/4 of a truck.
Last night he was trying to do a break stand and his truck would not do it. So I was like that truck suck's yada yada.
We line them up, I have added the cat back since last time.

GO- I pull a truck length till about 45/50 my truck shifts and he starts to creep. Then neck and neck, then at 90 he is 3/4 to a full truck in front of me.
WTF, a chip and cat back and that 5.3L still is ahead.
Well I know they are all high end but I must say I was impressed.

Question is: I didn't buy this truck to haul a$$,I bought my L for that. But what's left for me to do. I have only a few hundred in my budget. Got any suggestions?
Im not considering gear's or a blower
I just don't like getting beat by a bowtie

Dont know if that will do it

A air box mod, is the only other thing that comes to mind.

I might just have to suck it up.

DAMN!!!

I sure would like to know how you'd do against him if you took your chip OUT.

I dont think much diff.

I dont think the chip would make a night and day diff.
He would have pulled on me a second sooner.

"don't know if that will do it?"-

Ok, that's a limited budget. Here's some other tips. Floor the vehicle and look under the hood to see if the throttle body opens fully; mine didn't. Consider replacing your Y-pipe; it makes a nice improvement at a low cost. You're Borla air filter????=not a match for an airbox elimination kit. Once you do these things, next in line "IS" a set of underdrive pulleys and electric fans IMHO. Good Luck with whatever you decide.

Put a bigger throttle body on it.

I'm curious, the gears are the same but how about the tire size?
If you really want to show the bowtie up throw some weight behind both trucks and head up hill. Buy the time he gets to the rpm needed to make power you will be long gone.

I have the crome 17's

He has he dinky 16 inchers

The uphill tow drag would be a good idea, but it would be hard to convince him to give it a shot.
