Question Cheep code reader?

I know this has been addressed but I thank you in advance for your help.
I have had a code jump up every now and then and it clears with the battery off, headlights on trick. Usually stays off for a good while (months). Lately it keeps popping up. Has been on three times in the last 4 days. I guess I better check it out. Anyone know where I can get a good price on a code reader??

I got one on ebay, new in the box, for $120. Same one sells in J.C. Whitney for about $150. Do a search on ebay and see if you find something you like.

Randy: don't know.

WLF: http://www.obd2.com/ (expensive, stuff for your PDA and PC)
http://www.obd-2.com/ (more affordable for PC - detailed diagnostics - ideal if you have a notebook computer or your friend does)
http://www.obdii.com/scantool_selection.html (some good info here - get a scanner with data logging!)

I don't have one yet. Kind of a joke how they get you to buy one for each vehicle type when the only difference is the actual cable pinout.

I just took my sister-in-law's 2001 VW Beetle Turbo (with turbonium) through emissions testing. They just swap cables for all makes.
