Post Oil Leak-Passenger side-How to approach dealer/mechanics.

Hi. I have a '99 with the 5.4, build date for the engine 12-10-98, that leaks oil. I got under it yesterday, and discovered it has made a path all the way down over everything and is forming droplets on the bottom of the transmission/transfer case up front. Also, I could always smell something burnt from the passenger side, and I saw that there is baked on oil on my exhaust manifold. Also, I can see oil on the top of the engine block, in the V, that has dissolved in a bunch of dirt and stuff. How do I approach the dealer with this. I want it completely fixed, not just a part here and there, and then the leak will show up again later. Has there been a TSB from Ford to the dealers or is there anything that I can show them that will alert them of this 5.4 leaking oil problem? I know I can show him all of these posts, I may, but is there anything more official?
Thanks for all your help everyone, this board is great.

I had the same problem. I took my 99 5.4 to the dealer and told them I was smelling burnt oil. They took a look and said the engine would have to be replaced. Ford knows they have a problem with the 99 5.4. They replaced my 99 engine with a complete new 2000 engine. Take it back to them they should replace it. Good luck

I have a '99 4.6l with a similar problem, I didn't catch the mileage on your truck, but it sounds like you might have more problems than what is typical. My engine is being replaced right now and I should be getting the truck back tonight. What I did and I think you should do is research the problem and keep your finds in the back of your mind. Just take the truck in and let the techs find the problem, which is not uncommon. I think you might find that the dealer will voluntarily fix or replace the engine (depending on mileage). If you walk in telling the dealer what is wrong, they might be less willing to be fair with you.
