Question Hows this sound ? BRAND NEW 2000 F150 4x4 ext cab OffRoad,4.6 $26,000.00

I am now looking at a Wedgewood Blue OffRoad 4x4 short box ext cab step side,4.6 w/ 3:55's,captain chairs, slider,cd player, all the other goodies w/ tow pkg.At the dealer,5k off sticker and 19k for my trade of 99 F150 4x4 reg cab 4.6 w/tow pkg and 8K miles. Is the ext cab THAT much better ? Are the captain chairs a pain, isn't the bench seat better ?
Thanks, this week I will decide, keep mine or trade it !

That sounds like a sweet deal.... sounds like my first one with captain's chairs instead of the bench...

It's not real clear, but it's there...

As for the seat issue, I like the captain's chairs better than the bench. Neither one is overly comfortable, but I like the arm rest on the new truck... seems to be in just the right spot for me. Plus, you get the HUGE storage space in the center console (if you don't have the 6 disk changer)... you could easily get a couple of 6-packs in there! (Soda, of course!)

As for the Extended cab... DEFINATELY get it... it's well worth the extra money... I keep EVERYTHING back there!

I just wanted to offer an opinion. I have bought a couple of new and used trucks this year. It seems if you buy one that is used the dealer has much more room to work on price. Maybe sell yours outright and then try to find a used 2000, I am sure you could get one with low mileage for much less than 26k. I got a 2000 f150 4x4 ext cab off road with 5.4l with 18k miles for $20,600. Ext cab is the only way to go, could not live without mine. Good luck.

Had the bench in my '97. Got Captain's Chairs in my '99. I like the '99 a lot better since it came with a really handy center console. It's got two deep beverage holders where I keep my cell phone in one of them. It was also the only way to get the 6 CD changer. Sure, you can't haul around 6 people, but I never did that with the '97 so that was never an issue.

The only complaint I have with the Captain's Chairs is that the arm rest is useless for me. It's too short and too high in the '99, so I never use it.

I bought basically the same truck back
in feb/00 except for styleside bed and
5.4 engine and at the time the so called
invoice price was 26,600, could not get
them below that so it sounds like a real
good deal for you. The ride in the ext.cab
is alot smoother expecially in a 4x4.

Sounds like you paying invoice "New" for a used truck. 6K miles is used. My 2k Lariet was 27,xxx invoice. Is it 26K tax and all ?? That would not be bad, but if it's 26K + tax I think you can do better.

Definitely extra cab and captains chairs (power drivers seat?)...

That's not a bad deal, however, right now in the Denver area you can get a brand new 2001 (adjustable pedals, better resalse) with 5.4 for the same price. Dealers are overloaded and the market is soft; both GM and Ford are taking big bucks off their trucks.

But 19k isn't bad for your trade...i've been told that's what mine is worth - 99 SC 4x4 XLT 5.4 loaded w/ 22k miles.

Not bad but I paid 24.5k for mine new with no miles on it and 5.4 engine. It does have the split bench but I like it because all I had before where the captain chairs.

I have a '97 with all of what you listed except I have the split bench. For me this is ideal since I have the regular cab. I also like the bench because when I "load" the cab up to go away I can fit more by putting the console up.
I bought my truck used - paid $14,800 with 54,972 miles on it so I don't know if your deal is good or not. If I could change anything on the truck it would be to get an extended cab & 5.4L as I like the bigger engines. I was lucky though - I have no piston slap & the only real problem are the door cracks on both doors.
One question - how much are the 2001 models in your area? Where is Port, NY? Maybe a 2001 is close enough in price that you can talk the dealer into that model! Good luck!

I love the Captain's chairs in my '98. You can also add an Expedition console to get even more storage space. Check out my site to see how http://www.geocities.com/scmc75/f150/

Unhappy

I would love to have those prices here in Puerto Rico. I paid for mine in June 1998 $32,995. Lot of taxes to get those babies in the island. No second thoughts, I am very happy with my truck.

Don't know where the other guy got the idea that it has 6k on it, 2 miles is definately new! I think thats a pretty good price for the truck, and the trade they're offering is on the high side, so it looks like a good deal. To me the extended cab is one of the best things about my truck, wouldn't have bought one without it. Doesn't matter if you haul a lot of stuff in the bed or not, groceries, luggage, work stuff, whatever, it all pops right behind the seat in incredibly convenient fashion. As long as you plan to keep the truck for a while so the lower resale of a year older truck doesn't bite you I'd say do it!
