oil weight
I have read some postings about ford reccomending 5W20 oil in 2001 5.4L. I have a 2001 that was manf. on 06-2000 and my manual shows to use 5W30. What manf. date did they change to 5W20?Also, Im thinking about switching to synthetic oil and have heard good things about Mobil 1. Any experiences with this oil would be appreciated.

Amsoil is the way to go. You can go to the end of this reply and click on the PureAmsoil and you can see all the great things Amsoil can do. Yes use Amsoil 5w30 for you Ford.

Lots of talk about this subject already, skinny.
Go back to Engines, look at the upper right of the screen and find the Show topics for last 30 days. Click on the little arrow pointing down and then click on Show topics for last 100 days (or year). Click on "Go".
At the bottom of the first page of Topics that comes up, you'll find DOZENS of Topics, many of which are about oil weights and synthetic oil.
There's a wealth of information here already on your subjects.
