Good response Dgipalo. Maybe they will listen to your sound reasoning. If not, maybe they (go as fast as they want types) will learn to respect the LAWS some day when one of their loved ones get clobbered on the road by someone with a total disrespect for legitimate rules and regulations!

All of us that drive America's hiways should be scared of folks who exceed the speed limit by a large margin.

95 or more in a 70 zone really does make no good sense. Sh*t happens really fast at those speeds.

At lease one of the posters here is but 16 years old, and brags about going 134 in a Pickup Truck.

If that does not scare hell out of you, nothing will.

Problem is this board is for enthusiasts, and enthusiasts like to push the limits. Some are too cheap to do it on a track with rules, roll cages, and such.

Anyone who comments about safe driving, or managing risk, will get flamed by the rest of the folks.

Same folks that won't wear a helmet on a motorcycle. Fools, damn fools, and idiots.

Fools ride motorcycles.

Damn fools ride Sport Motorcycles.

Idiots ride them without a helmet.

Fools drive Pickups

Damn Fools Drive hopped-up pickup trucks.

Idiots drive them over a hundred MPH.

I drive both a pickup, and a motorcycle, but I always wear a helmet (on the bike).

I too would report someone operating thier vehicle in a reckless manner, such as moving so much faster that the normal flow, or weaving in and out (you're gonna do that if you move 30MPH faster than everyone else).

How about me when I pass someone doing 65, and I'm doing 70, and you come up on my tail at 100+.

I spent 4 years driving the Autobahn in Germany. Until and Unless we get the respect amongst ourselves that those folks have, we have no business driving that fast. In Germany, you can do 200mph in the left lane, and if you hit someone doing 70mph, It's their fault.

Print your reply and hang it on the nail in the out house.

Thats good!! (I guess) -- then you have more of a chance of accidently running over your friends and neighbors in your own local area, rather than the rest of those who don't live around you. That makes alot of sense!!!!????

Hey Markmizzou, As a Lightning owner I thought you might like to know that my truck is just getting into 3rd at 95, so if my foot is in it I never even see the top of 2nd gear on the street. I didn't buy it to drive 20 to 30 over, I bought it to get to 5 or 6 over faster than anyone else.

Most of the time I drive around 6 over the limit, which takes incredible discipline in the Lightning. In all honesty, my Lightning has never been over about 85 mph, and that was by accident during a pass on the Interstate. I stomped it at about 65, to get around a very slow car, and before I knew it there was 85.

I will be going to the Rockingham 1/4 mile and to the Virginia International road course in the spring. I'll see a little bit of third at the Rock and the top of third at VIR.

I just thought you might get a kick out of these two threads on the Lightning forum.

Question

I hardly visit another board due the frequent patroling of the PC police.
Let these guys rant all they want, were here not to bash each other and push our judgements on them.
I've hit 100 on my F150, honestly don't know how? All stock, but the speedo read 100 2 months ago, just last week I ran over 95 and still increasing passing a line of cars. The dealer has done repeated reflashes reprograms etc... so i guess it might have goosed the limiter.
Most of people here don't go flyin don't populated areas at high speeds. The distance required to get most cars to that speed requires plenty of open road. I doubt that there are any 3 years on any of these streches of open highway, If any animal runs out in front of me, the coyotes can eat the remains later. At above 20 mph or so, any evasive manuvers as an aggressive swerve will result in loss of control, unless you have extensive appropriate training. Speeders aren't the problem its the aggressive drivers.

I've done 150+ in my 5.0, and 145 in my camero. Both times there wasn't any vehicles in sight much less a grandmother or her grand child playing on the interstate/highway.
I do have a problem w/ speeders in residential areas and near schools.

BTW, speed ratings on tires are figured by the tire holding a sustained speed for a minimum of 6 hours, in order to be rated the tire must withstand the time frame in order to be given it's sought rating.

PS, a set up like mine will run 80 in second gear.

Cool

I've had my truck up to about 95 or so,It's really not all that exciting....I may get flamed for saying this, but even with 130mph rated tires its a scary experience.
I may really open it up someday,(Nev. or New Mexico) just to know how fast it'll go.
I love accellerating quickly from a stop,I guess I'm a drag kind of guy,,,,,,,98

"drag kinda guy" huh?
OK if you say so.

Ok I tend to go to extremes. I have gone 110 on the freeway, but usually stay around 90, or slower if traffic dictates. The Truck handles great at those speeds because I use pirrellis which because of their size, actually lower the Truck 3 inches, and yes, they are rated for WAY more than the speed I drive on them!
I always go about 5 on residentials, because I think 25 is too fast if a kid or dog darts out in front of you. Besides how fast could you ever need to get down a residential street anyway? You are probably almost home.

I can't believe people are still attacking each other on a thread that asked a simple question about speed.

Hmm...
here in california the roads are so @#$ing packed its impossible to reach speeds above 70mph really unless its past 10pm.
I like tonight for example at 1:30 AM
for fun in the far left brought my beast up to 100mph then let off.
Driving ABOVE 85mph in a giant truck is pretty goddam dangerous ill give you that.
I only do it with no cars around i dont think about myself making a mistake i think about some ******* doing 55mph weeving into my lane.
wtf can you do report people? lol if you can get their plate while they do 100mph at night be my guest and bring the evidence to court!
I suppose they better make a speed limit for shopping carts in the store to.. i mean jeez somebody could be going a bloody 3-4 mph and hit somebody doing only 1 mph and that would be a disaster.

And lastly... lol obay the law? never go above 65 mph? hahahah god i suppose people should start drinking their milk and eating their vitamins and saying their prayers before they sleep too..! thats how stupid that sounds to me!
