Truck is at the dealer status
Well I took my '99 Expedition 4.6l to the Ford dealer Tuesday 12/26. To recap, it's in for 6 issues. The primary problems are the engine oil leak on the passenger side and the tapping sound from the engine, both are no stranger to this board. It will be there for about a week and I will update the progress as I get information.
I just received word from the Ford dealer that it will be at least 2 weeks until they can get a new motor. It will be a NEW 2000 engine. I will post more info when the work starts. I am only posting this info to help other people know what they might expect if they have the same problem.
Has anyone had good or bad experiences with having their engine replaced under these same circumstances?

I just spoke to the Ford dealer, who I might add up to this point is very truthful. You got, I was told I need a new 4.6L engine. The truck has only 20,000 miles. Seems like I am about to live the exact problem most other people have had. I am not going to jump to conclusions, but so far I was told it may me a FQR or New and it is going to be at least a week or two before they can get an engine. I will get more information later this afternoon and I will post again.
Well the truck is at the dealer today. I was told late last week that they are going to use a 2001 because of unavailabilty of 2000 engines, we'll see. I am going in tonight to see the engine, I'll see if I can get a pic, I don't want to look like a dope taking pictures though. I do have some very interesting finds that might help people in the event they have to go through this, let's wait until I get the truck back though. At least my topic is back on top of the board.

Cold Expy - good luck! I can't wait to hear how this goes for you. You might want to tell them that if they don't do a good job & get it right all your friends from here will be very upset with them! I'll even write a strong letter of protest! THAT should scare them! LOL!
Seriously - best of luck!
