Post Synthetic advantages?

I am very interested in changing to Synthetic, either Amsoil or Mobil 1. My 98 F150 4.6l has 47k, I know that this will result in greater protection for my engine but will the change improve mileage and performance along with greater ?

Bottom line I will problably replace all fluids with synthetic products...but I have a concern about leaks.....everything is clean so far. I guess I'm looking for some reassurance that I will not be creating problems now vs. preventing problems down the road. Thanks in advance the the help.

Rest assured synthetics don't cause leaks! If you truck is in proper working order and doens't have any current leaks you will not have any after switching!

If you have no leaks now, then you are fine.

For milage, after switching the engine, tranny and transfer case over to synthetic, I got a 1mpg increase.

That is not bad at all. But the best part is that I am using the amsoil products and will not have to change the oil for a long time!

Forgot to add, I switched over at 68K. Bought the truck with 65K. You can feel a difference in power!

I switched to Amsoil Series 2000 at 3,000 miles. I change oil & filter "Amsoil SDF11" every 10,000 miles. I now have 109,000+ miles on my 97 f150 4.6. No leaks & it doesn't burn a drop. Amsoil's sleeper product is PI, give it a try...Mark.

PS: Oooooops Series 2000 0W30...

I second the PI! I used to have to run midgrade or I would get pinging. Now I use PI and regular, no pinging. And I save money since I only have to use about 2 oz of PI per tank!
