Head Swap
Head Swap
Hello All,
I have recently purchased a set of 5.4 liter heads and an intake for a 4.6 liter from e-bay. These are not P.I. heads or at least they do not appear to be. The intake is a '98, the same as my truck. The heads, I do not know what the casting numbers mean. I guess I am asking for information on the swap. Any one head gasket better than another, will my superchip need reproramming, who makes the best valves and lifters for our truck model? Why are the studs in the heads so wimpy? I am interested in any information you guys can give me. I have been told that my intake will need machining to fit the heads and that porting and polishing are a waste of time! I'm from the old school and we had a tendency to go all out on an engine rebuild. It's hard for me to believe a little polishing and a good 3 angle valve job will not be beneficial. I am looking forward to any comments or suggestions.
Thanks,
Rick
