What oil filter(Best)

I have been using Napa Gold filters in my trucks, I just traded my 97 for 02 F150. I was wondering what oil filter do any of you consider the best? I have heard that Wix makes a pretty good filter. I also run Amsoil in my vehicles so when the 02 is broke in I am going to switch over to synthetic.

thanks Kirt

I saw the results of a filter test at one time. If i remember correctly Fram was at the bottom, Napa and Wix were near the middle. Motorcraft, ACDelco, and K&N were at the top. K&N is probably one of the best if you can afford to pay $20 for a filter.

Kirt-

The K&N ($8.99 at Summit) and the Mobil 1 ($11.99 at AutoZone) are both great filters with low micron synthetic media, anti-drainback valve, moderately priced, and widely available.

Motorcraft all the way, I used to use "other filters" until I realized what was making my motors rattle on cold start up (Not piston slap). A mechanic told me to switch to motorcraft filters and that fixed it. It seems that filters that replace OEM, don't have a necessary component for controlling pressure for fords. Motorcraft all the way.

If you look at a NAPA GOld box, you will see they are made by Wix...Wix historically has been a highly rated filter.

I was told that Motorcraft was made by Purolater...that may be true but yesterday I compared them. The Purolator has a metal antidrainback valve that was easily visable, but the Motorcraft filter was much heavier and solidly built...

I read on a nother site that Fram was the worst...the regular FRAM, but their higher end filters were much better....but remember when Fram would make a oil filter with a"SlicK-50" product in it??? Why would they do that? SLick 50 was proven to be "snake-oil" Kinda makes ya wonder why they would risk thier reputation as a filter company by using slick 50... doesn't it??

For what it's worth I use Motorcraft in my F150 and NAPA Gold in my wifes Intrepid....

Amsoil SDF filters have the highest tested Filtration effeciency and capacity. Even better than the Mobil 1 filters(they are a very close second)

Amsoil recommends a filter change interval of 12500 or 6 months whichever comes first. I don't believe there are any others out there that even come close.

I know fram has a new one that they recommend 7500 miles or something.---Looks like they are trying. but still coming up short.

Oh well.
