The "Dead Horse" MAF sensor
If anyone cares to hear one more MAF topical discussion, then read on.
I purchased the truck one year ago with 72K miles and had pinging from day one. I've tried every known injector cleaner with no results. Tried every local brand of gas and available octane, up to 93, with no improvement. Last weekend I jumped into the MAF arena and slew the pinging dragon. It was so simple, I could kick myself for not trying it sooner. The cost? Absolutely nothing. I had the windex and q-tips already. It is an extremely simple process of opening the aircleaner housing and spraying the windex on the q-tip and "very gently" wiping the black crud/film/buildup off the MAF sensor. The results............
NO PINGING!!!
BETTER THROTTLE RESPONSE!!!
AND BEST OF ALL,
19MPG ON THE FIRST TANK ALONE.
It may not work for everyone, but the risk and cost are unbeatable!
