Doesn't seem to be much room in Ford ext cabs compared to GM ??
I was thinking of going to an ext cab p/u instead of the reg cab I have now but the Fords seem reall small in the back. I dont have kids just wife and I so maybe it wouldn't be worth it ? The GM's seem much larger.Like to hear your thoughts

I work with guys that have , Silve"ROTtos" , it looks bigger on the outside, but to be honest, on the inside, it really isn't much bigger. you'll have to ask yourself, would you rather have a 60/40 split rear bench seat that folds up very neatly for added storage space, or a full bench that while more comfortable offers less space when it is folded up. comfort wise, for any adult, its going to crampped up on a long ride either way.

First, I would highly recommend getting a supercab (no matter what the brand). It really allows the truck to be much more flexible.
I looked at trucks for a loong time comparing all of the models.
The rear seat of the chevy looks alot larger than the F150. When sitting in it, it feels a little bit larger but really no more or less comfortable..
The rear seat in the SuperDuty is slightly bigger than the F150. Its much wider than the chevy, but the foot room is about the same.
No matter which SuperCab you get, Ford F150, Ford SuperDuty, or Chevy, they're really not that comfortable for large adult for any length of time.. No problem takin your buddies to lunch, but not much more than that. The supercabs have lots of uses for hauling gear that you want to keep dry etc.
If you want to haul adults in the rear seats for long periods of time, then look into the various crew cabs that are available, F150 SuperCrew, F250 Crew Cab.

Actually, the GM s/c does have a slightly larger back, but this is due to the fact that they have cut about 3-6 inches out of the bed to add more space. Also, on a slightly different note, a friend of mine has a 2000 Silverado s/c. I put my foot on his back wheel and the entire truck shook like it was about to fall apart. My brother on the other hand has a 1999 F150 s/c, I decided I would do the same to his, and to my surprise (actually delight) his shook dramatically less. Quality, I think so!!!
With the back seat on the supercabs, you can get lifts for them. 2,3, or 4" lifts for the rear seats so that you can store more below them. I have a 3" in my 97 and it works great for kids. Much nicer having the room under the seat for storage. I am 5'8" and with the 3" lift my head hits the roof now. I would go with a 2" if I were hauling more adults around.
This also opens more foot room since you are higher off the floor. At least is seems that way, you are sitting more vertical.

If they are bigger inside its so they can fit more people in it so when it breaks down they have more help pushing.....lol......Look at WWW.NHTSA.COM to look at all the complaints about the Chev trucks........DAVE

I just went to a Chevy site, and I found out their interior actually isnt much bigger than F150 S/C.
Here are the numbers:
Front head room; Chevy 41" Ford 40.8"
Rear head room; Cheby 38.4" Ford 37.8"
Front leg room; shovy 41.3" Ford 40.9"
REAR LEG ROOM; Chev. 33.7" Ford 32.2"
Front hip room; Chevy 61.4" Ford 61.0"
REAR HIP ROOM; Chevy 61.5" Ford 63.2"
SO....
All of this info is from a Chevy comparison site. I have test driven the Chevy and sat in the back, the Chevy isnt really much bigger at all.
I am 6'3", the way I tested BOTH vehicles prior to buying was Sit in the drivers seat, adjust it for the best driving position for me. Get out, and get in the back behind the driver. I fit in both trucks just fine, although the seating wasnt as comfortable in the rear, in both vehicles. Different positioning I guess.
Rangerr91, I hope this helps you out, it helped me. I bought the Ford knowing it wasnt much smaller, and that was the ONLY advantage I thought the extracab Chevy had over supercab Ford. 1/2 inch in most categories doesnt qualify for much of an advantage! Also the Chevy has seat belts for 5, the Ford has seat belts for six, according to the Chevy site.
Good luck!

FUTURE MODS:
-K&N FIPK
-2001 Lightning wheels?
-Lightning front bumper cover, & foglights
-MTX Thunderforms for S/C
-Upgraded speakers in doors
-amplifier
-2" drop, front & rear
(I think that is a good start)
