Question Supercharger and towing

To all,
I was thinking about adding a supercharger to my 1999 F-250 Superduty, 5.4. What will the affects (pros or cons) be for towing and on gas mileage? Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

Thumbs up

Hey DepthCharge,

I have accomplished some amazing tows with my superchagred truck with great success.
This past spring I towed 13,000 pounds on a 1500 mile trip through the mountains of Virginia, yes it was stupid, yes I was severely over gross. I also tow about 5000-6000lbs. once a month at @600 miles round trip.
Gas milage will suffer when towing. I usuall get about 9.5mpg towing and about 15mpg empty.
In my opinion the extra H.P./torque is worth it. The truck handles it well, no increase in engine or tranny temp. Although it would be nice to have a bigger gas tank.
If you can stand paying for the fuel you won't be dissapointed.

***** & Crash!

Does a SC decrease the life of the motor or trany ( so long as you don't go for lower 1/4 miles times everyday )?
