I think most of the Name brands are very close in good quality.

well here at my school (University of miami) they did a school project in which they tested every brand of 87 octane fuel and tried to figure out which was best. all the results were almost identical. chevron was the best, then followed by mobil and amoco. the difference was so minute however, that one would never notice any sort of gains. there was a couple that ranked considerably lower, though. such as shell, coastal and some other small name companies. i thought it was pretty interesting, just thought id share.
