Stick with the 5.0 It is real easy to add preformance parts to that to make a real powerful engine. My frined has a 5.0 that is pulling over 350Hp (I think that is right). There are more preformance parts out there for a 5.0 than for the 351 and they are ususally cheaper.

My 2 cents worth

If you're gonna stroke it, POWERSTROKE IT!!!

The only really lame 302 I had was in a '90 F150. If that is what you have, an electronics change should fix it. I think I saw that Ford svo makes a MAF kit that might be what you need.

What year truck? What tranny? what rear end ratio? 2WD or 4WD? What are you building it for: street, strip, off-road, towing, etc?

Give us a place to start. The swap you talk about may or may not be simple or even desirable depending on the answers to these questions.
