burnt antifreeze smell
I know it has been quite common for a heater hose clamp to leak towards the rear passenger side of the engine. The leakage rate changes according to cooling system pressure, ie when the engine is hotter. Another problem I personnaly have experienced is a similar smell, but comes from the evaporator coil in the HVAC system not from antifreeze. This is a well know problem you might want to look into.
Has anyone had this problem or am I alone.
Everytime I start my 4.6 1999 f150 and let it warm up I get the strong smell of burnt antifreeze, especially from the passengers side. This happens even after running for awhile and then stopping,I get out and still smell it.The dealer looked at it once, smelled the burnt antifreeze, tested the cooling system and reported no system failure but did not diagnos the problem.I can find no leaks at all. H E L P b4 my warranty runs out.

It is most likely burnt anti freeze.
