Question Engine Size

Question is primarliy engine size but crosses into other areas. Live in Denver and currently have a 98 XLT, 2WD w/4.6. I tow a 4600lb GVWR trailer. I want to get more power to be able to climb the 11000 ft mountain passes. I am thinking of a 01 XLT, 2WD, w/5.4 and the 3045lb payload package. Looked at the F-250 w/5.4 but the towing capacity is less than the F-150. A jump to a F-250 w/V-10 seems overkill because we drive around town a lot (gas would eat us alive). What are the HP losses for the F-150 5.43 as you gain altitude? Any other suggestions?

The best way to deal with altitude issues is to blow it (super/turbo-charger).

You lose 4% of your power for every 1,000 feet above sea level.

At your desired altitude, you're off 44% -- that's why the turbo-diesels are towing kings.
