'98 4.6L died

Driving at 45 mph. Motor died for 2 seconds, came back to life for 10 seconds. Died for good. Coasted to a stop. Motor turns over but will not start. Any suggestions on this "High-Tech" stuff, BEFORE I take it to the shop? Thanks, Gregory

Might want to check your fuel pump cut-off inertia switch behind the passenger side kick panel. Did it die after you hit a pothole or something?

Sounds like it might be the fuel pump has gone bad.

The local Ford dealer says there is a short in the fuse box, that goes to the main computer. They had a tough time finding it, so it'll only cost me $300 for labor, and $100 for a new fuse box. Thanks for all the replies

What caused the short? I have repaired several shorted fuse boxes and gem modules that were damaged du toa waterleak in the left cowl, windshield area. You might want to run a hose over that area and make sure there is no waterleak. When there is a leak water runs right onto the fuse box and gem module.

MXRacer....

Thanks for the tip. I will pass that info onto the dealer. Most likely it just broke, not shorted out by water, etc. The thing sets in my garage almost 98% of the time, as it's my second vehicle, and I cringe at the gas mileage. Gregory
