Would anyone know the current hp and tq rating of the new (Gas)6.8L V10's? Also how much is it to purchase a new one?

2001 V10 - 310 hp@4250 rpm, 425 lb-ft@3250 rpm.

It's about a $500 option on an F-250. But don't waste your money - get a PowerStroke. The V10 is a major disappointment to drive and sucks gas like nothing you've ever seen.

Alright, alright you have probably figured out what I'm going to say. Ford's V-10 SUCKS!!!! At least compared to the Powerstroke. The V-10 is a real dog, especially when pulling a load. It is also one heck of a pig. It also drinks gas faster than I can drink beer, and thats pretty fast. (Don't worry I'm over 21). The Powerstroke can pull 180hp @ 3000 pm and 378ft/lbs @ 1900rpm. Then if you add a Banks kit it goes to 233hp @ 3000rpm and 483ft/lbs @ 2000rpm.

My 2 cents worth

If you're gonna stroke it, POWERSTROKE IT!!!

Current Powerstroke packs a bit more punch than that.
Manual Auto
Horsepower 275@2800 250@2600
Torque 520@1600 505@1600

Add a Banks kit to that and watch out...

Powerstroke Diesel cost $4,000 or so, cost of V-10 $900 (not sure).Buy the v-10, throw a supercharger on it and the price will equal out and the V-10 will outperform the diesel.Except in gas mileage. That is the one dept. that theV-10 lacks in.Of course, the powerstroke is by no means gonna get you great mileage either.I know a few guys with the diesel and they aren't getting over 16 mpg

Is the V10 a 2V? In a couple years when the 3V comes out will this engine change over as well? Also I heard that Ford is planning on changing some engines to aluminum blocks, atleast that's what I thought I heard anyways. If so will this go the same route, and save weight?

DLN,
Yes I believe ford is moving towards all aluminum motors. The new explorer is going to have an optional all aluminum 4.6 v-8 in place of the 5.0.
