Question O2 Sensor bank - which is which?

I have an Auto X-ray OBD-II scanner and found it to be a very useful tool... especially when the MIL comes on.

The scanner reports that I have two O2 sensors in each bank (front and back). There is bank 0 and bank 1.

Does anyone know which bank is which? Is bank 0 the right (passenger) side or is it the left (driver's) side?

Thanks!

I'm not familiar with any scanners that say bank 0 or bank 1 only bank 1 or bank 2 and sensors 1,2,3 etc. I can tell you that all engines are set up the same as far as where the banks are. Bank 1 will always be the side where you find number 1 spark plug. Sensor 1 will always be nearest the engine or upstream. For example on a Ford with 4 sensors, B2S2 would be on the left side after the converter.

Thanks for the info... You are indeed correct, I mistakenly said bank 0 and 1.

After looking at my scanner this morning, the banks are actually numbered 1 and 2, and the sensors are numbered 1 and 2.

Thanks for your help, Nitro94!
