I'll take a shot at the quiz.

I would guess in all 4 scenarios the chevy would have a slight advantage..

Chevy is known to be able to produce some pretty good HP/Torque at the higher revs. Makes for a tough race truck, but less helpful as a work tuck.

This is on top of the fact that your giving up alot of displacement to the Chevy.

I'm sure there are 4.6's out there that would give it a good run..

It all depends on who has the lower gears and most inportantly who hits it going the fastest.

My real truck is in my signature. My work truck is a 2000 suburban 2500 with 6.0L-300 hp. If the lariet has a chance to get up to rpm, 3000+, it will trash the shivvy, down in lower revs, I hate to say the burb will out run the FORD. I have driven the lariet 60K in 3 yrs. & the burb 12K in the last 6 mo.

You are really asking a tough question. The two trucks are identical except for tire brands and the chevy has a larger engine. The hp difference is not that much and that is not even that big of a factor in these off road challenges. I have owned many off road vehicles and taken them off road MANY times. Unless the hp difference is huge (which it is not here) it really won't make a difference. The Chevy may have a slight advantage due to torque but that can be overcome simply by the driver. If you know how to make your truck perform then you should have no problem hanging in there or even winning this thing.

Cool

Alright, well the reason i asked yalls opinion is cause I have the Ford and my friend has the chevy. He swears it is sooo much better...why do chevy people do that. Anywayz, i stood behind my Ford and we devised this little course for our 2 trucks. I'm a little worried about how my 4.6L is gonna do, although I can say- its just for fun. But hey, it would be nice to have to pull my friend out...haha. O well, keep the opinions rollin...

From what I know and have seen, that 3ft. deep water crossing might be a little harder than what you think....Have to be careful about sucking in water into the engine. Remember that your truck might not get water up that high to the air intake, but when you are moving, you are pushing water, and might push it high enough to suck water in.
I know from expirence with the F150's, they suck in a lot of water when the front is submerged in water.....I hit a hole in a logging road that I had water up to my bug deflector on the hood.....When I pulled the air filter, it was caked in water and mud....That was right after I got out of the hole and onto a dry area.
Just my two cents....Other than that, I would say that the drivers ability plays the biggest role in all of the other events. Don't jump to fast if you don't drive offroad that much....You can break a lot of stuff fast if you make one wrong move.
Pics after submerging the front end the next morning...Doesn't look bad, but it was worse than it looks

whew!!! getting ourself into something here, huh, bigbadford..lol...take him on, show him what your ford has...just do be careful in the water crossing, hit it slow...we used to disconnect our fans through deep water to keep from drowning out our motors, go slow and you should be fine...you have a great set of skins on yours, those new yoko mt's are something else...the mud run and hill climb should be a cinch for ya... don't sweat the 4.6 mine has done some amazing things in the last 2 years...advice for the hill climb, hit it fast enough to keep momentum, but not fast enough to start spinning...you'll spin some regardless, but, if you hammer it, you're gonna bury, or turm sideways...not a good thing...pick your line and have fun...let us know how it goes...good luck, Rich.

I agree that the Tires and gearing will play the most. Also weight. And driver capibilities.

Remember to adjust your tire pressure lower for the sand.
