Hey Guys!
Sorry to post this question here, but this portion of the site gets a lot of attention. My CD Changer is going out and would like to know if there is an after market changer that will work with my factory connectors. I do NOT want a FM modulated changer. So with all of this said, I would like to challenge you "Guru's" for some help. I am being told that there are some connectors available to directly connect after market changers such as Alpine, Pioneer, etc. If you guys have any suggestions/comments please list them in detail, i.e., the type of equipment you’re referring too, where to buy it, etc.
Thanks,
Tony D

You can get connectors for just about every kind of vehicle made at most electronics stores that sell car audio equipment. (Circuit City, Best Buy etc.) All's you have to do is wire the connector following the wiring diagram from the CD unit and the head unit(if separate) and plug it into the vehicles plug. You can also ask people in the installation dept any questions or advise. They have always been helpful to me when I've had installation questions. There is always the option to have them install it for you if the price will offset the aggravation of doing it yourself.
I've always considered my time very valuable, if I can get the job done by a professional installer for a reasonable price and save myself from screwing something up I will do it. I have installed several car stereos and I do highly recommend using the aftermarket plugs, they make life alot easier. I have no done one of the CD changers located somewhere in the rear of the cab, you might be able to use existing wiring for that.
You might want to post this question on the audio board may be more knowledgable people over there, also I believe Crutchfields site has installation tips.
Good luck,
Hobbit
