Question 2001 PISTON SLAPPING

Hello members, has anyone experience piston slapping on a 2000-2001 model?? Im not sure if I have it, though when I start it up in the morning, it has a slight abnormal sound not as pronounced as the sample on given on the topic "piston slapping"" The truck is brand new, 2001 SC 5.4L.. Thanks for any replies..

Wink

engbr...what you are probably hearing when you start up your "brand new" 2001 Ford is the "new" exhaust system (catalytic convertors). All new vehicles encounter this exhaust sound when they are new and will disapear over time when you get some good miules on it. This sound will go away after the exhaust system has warmed up a bit on start up (20-45 secs). Even when the truck is shut off after a good drive you will notice this crackle sound until the exhaust system cools down.

This is probably what you are hearing and is normal for a new vehicle...take it to your nearest dealer for a second opion.

Have fun and enjoy your new truck!
