4.0L 5 spd.

The Rangers/Explorer Spot's are not great unless you mash the gas. The Explorer Sport has sub 8 sec. 0-60 times in Car and Driver Like 7.8 or 9. With 3.73's
You can get Rangers w/ 4.10's they have to be comparable in times.

That artical in C and D is odd. Motor Trend said the 5.4L Ford was quicker that the 6.0L Chevy at the end of the artical. So I dont know what happend thier.
I know my truck will walk a 4.8L any time.

I am not taking sides...but a 4.0 liter v6 with the 5 speed auto is faster then the 4.6 with the 4 speed in the same vehicle..fact

That is a good combo..light weight 205 hp and a 5 speed auto...

Sounds like an idea power house package in a small vehicle..

I'll race that Cheby guy with that 3800 lbs of wet top soil I hauled last week or that 12,000 lb hay trailer I pulled this summer. I bet he would win. Point being they are built for different things, I think both are well built for their intended purposes. Ford is the work horse and Cheby is the Urban cruiser.
