Red,

Asking about oils is like asking who is hotter, Shania Twain or Faith Hill....lots of opinions...

Synthetics do offer superior protection against wear, but dino oil works great as well....

most, and I repeat MOST folks usning syn oil still change it every 5K miles....there are some folks who do 7,500 miles and some who change oil twice a year.

If you go regular Mobil 1 and change every 3k miles, you should not have any problems....do what gives you peace of mind.

This has been a very contentious issue that taken up countless pages on this board. It all comes down to personal preference, climate, type of service etc. etc., etc., but in my view there's no contest: Shania Twain.

Sigh...

Shania or Faith?

I'll take both, please.

(I also use Mobile 1 Synthetic on my vehicles, and change the oil every 3k. Yes, I'm **** and overprotective. I also have a '91 Chevy Lumina with 180K and no engine problems. Hmmm...)

I use Mobile 1 synthetic and change every 5,000 miles. I haven't noticed a difference maybe a little smoother and not as loud at idle.

Question

Is Amsoil a multi-level-marketing product? Is that why it's so damn expensive?

Just wondering.

I'm sticking to Mobil1 Synthetic, K&N oil filter, 5k kms changes.

Amsoil is made of 100% pure synthetic base stock. Mobil 1 isn't. That's why it's so "damn" expensive. And no I don't use it.

rpc625,

I fail to see what all of that has to do with Faith or Shania .
