Post Asoil 0W-30... WOW!

Just began running Amsoil 0W-30 Series 2000. Have previously used 5W-30. HUGE difference in cold starts!!! The 0W-30 allows the engine to turn-over much much easier on a cold morning, very noticable. I also noticed I was not hearing any more valve chatter at cold start. The engine is usually very noisy at cold start with conventional 5W-30's, less so with the Amsoil 5W-30 and virtually silent with 0W-30.

I'm sold even at $7.90/qt.... Think this stuff runs to 35K...

If you care, I highly recommend it! I'll do an oil analysis probably around 15K or so and post the results.....

Cool

I agree Rand, I too have used the 0-30 Amsoil since it became available from Amsoil.

I live in Las Vegas and work approximately 100 miles in the north west desert at higher elevations. In the winter, the temps measure 0 to 30 degrees. During the time that the posts on this board were reflecting knocking sounds with 98 5.4 liter engines, the 0-30w reduced and elimintaed mine.

I cannot speak for everyone however, I also observed quicker accelerations (non-timed) just by how quickly the engine turned rpms. I am not saying that this is the most accurate method but, as some of you folks know that one can feel and hear a difference in engine performance without having the readings to back it up.

The 0-30w was designed for applications that called for 5-30 or 10-30w oil. Many folks believe that it is too thin however, when you look at the statistical information on the bottle or from Amsoil, it is tough and durable.

I think that the Series2000 is great, but I also feel for most folks that its not worth the price. Especially if you don't carry it out for the extended drains.

Also to think how much extra life are you going to get out of the engine by switching from the ASL 5w30 to the TSO?

Where I really think this stuff would shine is with the dual remote by-pass setup, and just not change it for a real long time!
