Fuel System Cleaner??

Can anyone recommend a fuel system product to clean the injectors and remove carbon from the engine. I would like a product that actually works.

B&G 44 K. Expensive, but works well. About $20.00 for a can, make sure to run about 20 miles on the highway to help it work. Need to buy it at a repair shop or dealer, most chevy dealers in Colo Spgs have it, or a good repair shop. Good luck.

BG products work well but are a little pricey, Redline is approved specifically by BMW for it's vehicles, but $ for $, Marvel Mystery oil is about the best. It has a similiar mixture composition as BG (toluene) but is less expensive.

Techron is cheap and does a decent job. Costs only about $11 to treat 20 gallons. Give it a try and if it doesn't work, try a more expensive product/procedure.

Check your oil before treatment. If the oil turns black after you run through the tank, then you know it worked.

Had an '87 5.8L that pinged like crazy even with 92 octane. Did one treatment (small bottle, so only 10 gallons) and within 20 miles I could tell the pinging was decreasing. When the tank was done, pinging was gone and I was able to refill with regular from then on. Oil turned pitch black so did a quick oil change. Chevron guys said the black is the carbon that gets blown past the rings.

My '99 was a real low mileage truck. Something like 16k miles in 3 years. It wouldn't take long for power to drop a little and the idle to get a bit rough. I'd do a Techron treatment and the power would return and the engine would smooth out.

BTW, don't use the fuel system cleaner WITH Techron. What you want is the straight Techron.
