Question Synthetic Oil...

I have a 2001 F-150 SuperCab 4x4 and want to use synthetic oil. With the requirement from Ford for 5-20 oil, do you think it would cause a problem if I used Mobil 1 5-30? What are other owners of 2001 models going to do?

Thanks,

Frank T. Lee

If it were me and I had a bueatiful truck as I'm sure yours is, I would not switch to Mobil 1 for the small improvement it would offer over natural oils. Instead I think that I would be VERY strict with changing the 5W-20 at 3k intervals. Maybe after warranty I would then switch, but I would not like the shadow of doubt by using Mobil 1 while still in warranty.
Just my .02 worth.

Enjoy your truck!!!!

Flee, Best to run what the manufacture calls
for, In your case 5w 20 to stay within warrenty issues. As for synthetic if you want to run it you may want to wait till
5000 - 10000 miles.

Also be sure to keep your reciepts on your
maintence if you do it yourself or someone
other than the dealer.
