AARRGGHH!!! Looking to get a new truck (kinda long)
Off the subject, I know, buuut......
Glad to finally meet someone who got outta this joint! :-) It's ironic that your parents met at the DEFTP... that's where I hired in on production at. Now I'm in the Dearborn Stamping Plant, but I've also worked in the DAP and Dbn. Tool and Die as well. How long ago did your parents work there?
Back to the topic at hand... if you think you want the truck, go for it! Don't end up in the same boat I was! (pun intended!) If it means you walk anextra block or two because you couldn't fit in the "close" space... oh well. A little exercise never hurt anyone, right? :-)

GIJoeCam!
Yeah I escaped in 1992. My little brother just got out of there--in fact, today started his new job as a web designer in san francisco!!! My other bro is still there.
My folks worked at the rouge in the mid 50's when they met. A little different then than now esp since the foundries and powerhouse are gone.
I worked at dearborn glass when I got out of college; I worked the summer of '76 at dearborn stamping in the blanking press area. still got the scars to prove it.
Just called a dealer to find a truck that meets my specs. Maybe by this weekend I will have it!!! Cant wait...8-)

I went from an 89' Ranger SuperCab, to a 00' F250 SuperDuty SuperCab.. (which is slightly larger than the F150).
For the first week you really notice how much bigger the full size truck is.. Sure, I choose parking spots a bit more carefully. Also backing into parking spaces really makes things easier.
I'm waiting for the response from the dude who had the back-up sensors as there's been a few times where this would have been nice.

Karl,
I have a 2001 f-150 super crew. I love it. It has the 5.4 and it does have plenty of power but I haven't pulled my camper with it yet. I will be adding a few mods as you can see below that I am sure would eliminate any power issues while pulling. As far as room, the super crew has more room than most any car on the market. I am 6'6" tall and i have plenty of room, and in the back seat as well. The power adjust peds are real nice as well.
I have always had a truck and my last one was a f-150 ext cab with the 8' bed, now that would creat some parking issues, but the new supercab is very agile and I haven't had any parking issues what so ever(had good practice on my previous truck). In my opinion you get the advantages of a truck and all the room a car can give you....I will never get any other type of truck from here on out.... Good luck in your descision
