Post Ford still has my truck

long story real short

dropped truck off on 10/3/00 to get the passenger side oil leak fixed.

The dealer said that ford told them to take the motor apart and measure the block. So they did. It head surface was no where near flat.

Ford authorizes a Rebuilt motor for it.
the dealer calls me and tells me this but they said that ford can not find any rebuilts, and that they were going to give me a new longblock from the factory.

So motor comes in and they install it and everything is working great. So the transmission guy takes it to reprogram the transmission, and while he has it, the motor starts to leak coolant. So he takes it back to the motor guy.

The motor guy thinks it is leaking behind the intake manifold so he pulls that to put another gasket on it. But they had to wait 4 days for the part.

So they put the motor back together and it is still leaking coolant, so the dealer tells me that they are going to have to order another new motor.

Damn they have had the truck for a little over 5 weeks. I am getting real PISSED!!!!!!!

ok i am done blowing my top for now

How much warranty do you have left?
I am still waiting on my new sliding window, the one I have now leaks and has ever since I purchased my truck. My truck is a '97, I have given up about the window, they can stick it up their *#@$, you know what I mean I am sure.

Ron;

I have been checking out the new Chevy trucks, I hate like everything to buy one of those trucks, but if Ford can't treat me better than this, I am going elsewhere.

If a person could love a truck, I love my truck. It is '97 F150 4x4 4.6L solid black with red interior. The only things that I put on extra were DeeZee running boards, ventshades, and bug deflector.

Cool

aligar...do really think that Chevy trucks don't break down and their customer service is better than Ford or Dodge....NOT!

Try even getting your Chevy truck booked in for an oil change...my buddy that own's a new 2000 Z71 is wondering if he should be looking at buying a Ford...he says the service sucks and the truck is in the shop more than it is being driven.

Every manufactuer makes good ones...and every manufacturer makes bad ones!

I really feel for the guys that are running into troubles but remember that these are only over priced machines and the grass is not any greener on the other side of the fence!

I love my Ford Supercrew, beautiful truck and fun to drive...its the best and no Chevy even comes close to it in my books....unless its given to me for free!!!

Hang in there Ron993...life will get better...don't jump quit yet!

Thumbs down

ron993, I can't believe you don't have your truck back! I've got over 2000 miles on mine after the head gasket replacement with no problems! And we took our trucks in on the same day! Good luck!

I love my truck to death. No problems except for the 4 recalls. I fought for every one and now I am going to take it to a Ford dealership an HOUR and 1/2 away when I could drive 5 miles to one. The one I could go to is some CRAP. Truck is good, I would rather deal with the IRS or FBI than FORD.

ron993,
You state that chevrolets are crap yet your truck has been in the shop for 5 weeks and is about to get a second rebuilt engine on a truck with 26,000 miles. That sounds like the defination of a piece of crap to me. I'm sure you will be proud to tell people that your fairly new Ford truck already has a rebuilt engine in it.

You guys that are always putting down the other brands of trucks because of problems or poor customer service, yet ignore the problems that ford has, just kill me. You must not read the posts on this forum very closly. I read more problem posts on this forum than about any other. I like and dislike things about all the makes and don't think one is any better than the others. You guys are always putting down the new body style chevies for their problems yet seem to forget about all the problems ford had when they introduced their new body style. Quit being such hypicrits.

that is your opinion

and as my post said it is not a rebuilt engine, i have seen the motor and it does not have FQR on the serial number

yes i realize that all manufacturers build pieces of crap

but i am not a hypocrite

i will walk before i buy another chevy

in my opinion when they started making cars more and more computerized they became total piles of s***

Wink

Guys Guys Guys....

Bottom line....they all make good ones and they all make bad ones.

Luck of the draw...I have owned them all, drove them all and hated them all at one time or another!

I love my trucks!!

if they have had your truck overnight for a total of 30 days you can make them eat the truck on the lemon law. you CAN get them to buy it back from you at this point.

Well, I might have misread the part about it being a new motor, but I consider any truck that is getting its third engine in 26,000 miles a problem. I don't know how you can have confidence in Ford when the engine is the heart of the truck and Ford has replaced many of these engines. I don't buy Ford's position that piston slap doesn't cause long term damage. Why would ford spend all that money on replacing engines that make a little noise on startup if they weren't worried about longterm durability. From all of the complaints I've read about Ford's customer service, I doubt its because they want to make you happy. For them to have your truck for five weeks just proves that point.
