I do alot of work in all of the BIG 3 car plants(that's why I bought a Ford),and I will tell you they do not baby them AT ALL.It's like the Indy 500 in there. The 1rst thing they do once the body meets the frame is take it to the dyno and hold it to the floor in 2 wheel then 4 wheel. I have always thought to break it in like your going to drive it,just don't try to burn it up. Trust me if the motor was going to blow up it's going to do it at the factory, the whole truck is pretty much tourture tested there. But I also changed my oil 500 miles just in case there was any debries in the engine. And I would'nt use synthetic until 5000 miles.

I'm not sure about these new 5.4 motors, but I remember building countless small block chevy motors. I've been told time and time again that as soon as you fire that motor up you need to keep the RPM at 2500-3000 just sitting there in neutral for 20 min so that the oil will actually get pumped to the cam for break in. Pretty much after that, WFO doesn't mean a dang thing.\

Now I assume this is what MFR's do at the plant(the dyno). So even though I'm not no to WFO all the time, I feel you could if so desired and it wouldn't make a bit of difference.
