Superfreak,

Welcome to the board!

I have an article showing a '97 or '98 tubbed extended cab. I think he dropped a 460 in it, but it may be a 429. It looks like the swap left room to spare. I am not sure whether he fabricated the parts or if there is a kit out there.

You may want to consider an AOD and build it instead of a C-6, that way, you will still be able to cruise the highways with ease.

Drop me a line. You are not far from me. Maybe we can get together at Kellers Drive-in sometime.

Superfreak, I don't know the smog laws in Texas but in California you can't put an older engine in a vehicle, so I'd check before you invest the cash. An easier solution might be to look for a DOHC 5.4 or 4.6 motor from a '97 or newer Navigator or Mark VIII you should be able to get motor mounts and bolt it right in without having to fabricate or shorten the drive shaft a lot less headaches to deal with.

They are right, it's good to check the laws. But if you bought a NEW 460 from Ford...

You could always tag it as a farm truck, then you wouldn't even need converters... LOL

Or maybe move to a non-emission area... LOL
