What is the main difference between the Generation II and the original K&N FIPK? Is installation just as simple? Any real advantage?

Don't know the difference, but according to my Performance Products catalog,Generation II
is shown for 97 and above, the original (catalog doesn't say Gen I) for years below 97. May have something to do with the CARB Cert.
