Post Clean the MAF after pulling the air silencer? (TB side)

Well, after having your sweaty arm down there and pulling / tugging away at the air silencer...shouldn't the MAF be cleaned? (Please say "no.") How should it be done, and with what? Thanks!!!

P.S. I thought of this because I'm doing a lot of maintenance on my woman's Probe this weekend. (She has a bad O2 sensor.)
These damned Probe parts are INSANE!!! (Expensive.)

Cool

The MAF can be cleaned with Windex and Q-tips. I've seen posts of people who use carb cleaner, if you use cleaners, read the label and use one that is safe for coatings, sensors, etc. Good luck with the Probe.

Thanks man...I cleaned them with electrical contacts cleaner. About the Probe, I spent about 3 hours replacing everything, and cleaning everyting...and I still have a check engine light. Seems most other people on www.probetalk.com are having very similer problems. Damned Fords. Thanks again.

Jackal,

No, cleaning the MAF should not be necessary.

Double check all of your connections, and try to get the codes stored. You will need a sense of direction, and the codes will help you.

Wink

Cool, thanks man. I had her codes read today, and it says it's her other O2 sensor, and her EGR valve. I think, however, it's just a bad CAT causing all these error codes, especially since it REAKS!!! I'm getting it replaced under the 80,000 federal "warranty" next weekend...hopefully.

HAHAHA...I know man...it's a Mazda, with Mitsubitchy parts. Ford should have put their name on it though. I've come a long way with it though...runs awesome, just gotta get the CAT replaced now. Without message boards like this one, and probetalk, I'd never be able to fix these problems. I knew exactly what I was doing with the Probe, before I even popped the hood.
