Question Tune Up?

My 97 XLT has 65K miles on it. Never has had a tune up. It runs well, although I have noticed some pinging in the cooler early morning, which goes away when the engine warms up. My question is, I'm probably going to have the truck serviced soon for some brake work, would it be a good idea to have them replace the plugs, check the timing etc? I was also thinking about having them replace the belts. Just as proactive preventative maintenance measure. Any thing else? I had the fuel filter replaced at 50K.

I have 46k on mine and a mechanic, not ford tech, told me that the plugs may not need to be replaced until 60k. Your plugs
may be carbon fouled causing the preignition. I'd get them replaced. I don't know about the belt, mine was replaced three times, kept squealing on me. I found the problem later(loose a/c compressor) Does the replace every 4 years still apply, anyone?(for belts and hoses?) The plug change was quoted to
me at a dealer,,,$185!! minus the plugs,I
had my own! They said "they're a real bear to do!" So I'll wait for 60k to get it done. Still have the plugs(cost me $50)
Has the air filter been replaced regularly?
The timing is set in the comp. and is crank triggered,so it's probably fine
,,,,,good luck on the tune up,,,,,98
