Anyone else get the new oct/nov 2000 issue of 4wheel Parts offroad adventures?

Anyways, there is a feature on the FabTech show truck. They say the engine is rated at 300 hp with these bolt ons: gibson headers & exhaust, JET chip, and Airraid intake.

HAHA! maybe in ricer math! maybe a good 250hp for sure out of the engine. Other than that, it was a nice looking truck for sure.

 

WELL THEY DIDN'T SAY HOW THEY ARRIVED AT THAT FIGURE. IT PROBABLY WAS MEASURED AT THE CRANK WITH 110 OCTANE DAYCO RACING FUEL. WITH HEADERS AND THE OPEN EXAUST THAT HAS WOULD MAKE YOU DEEF ON A DAILY DRIVER. AND I DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU BUT I COULDN'T AFFORD TO FEED IT DAYCO ALL THE TIME.

Just to give you an idea, I DYNO'D at 217 hp (at the rear wheels) AFTER the blower.

I don't buy it. Not even at the flywheel. That's probably what *I* put out at the flywheel.

Something else- A higher octane combined with a stock calibration will actually decrease power, as it burns slower. I have proven it.
