Which Is Stronger??

Can anyone tell me if the Cobra shortblock is stronger then the Windsor 4.6 shortblock. I am ready to start building a replacement motor and can't afford a race built shortblock. I can get a Cobra short block for a pritty good price and I know everything will bold up since they have the 8 bolt crank. Also I think this may up the compression some.
I can't seem to find out anywhere else so I'll check with the experts here...

first the windsor is stonger than the romeo(2v) (wich is probably why u said windsor)

-Cobra aluminumn block, windsor cast iron
-the cobra has 6 bolt mains (4 up and 2 cross bolted) - windsor is 4 bolt
-both forged crank
-i think (only think) the rods are stonger on the cobra
-both have crappy hyperutecic pisions (good idea to replace)
-cobra block stock rpm redline is much higher than a normal 4.6, again replace pistions with forged
-both full float pistion pins

depending on what you plan to use it for, i would probably still use the cobra block - just my opinion

when the cobra and 4.6 mustang came out 5.0 had an issue on the differences - between those two the cobra was far superior (but that was also a romeo 4.6 2v)

You might have better luck posting this question on corral

Thanks black f150 offroad,

I'm pritty sure the 4.6 in my truck had the cast crank. Rpm's is what I want. A little wt saving with the aluminum block would also be nice.
I found a couple of articles on the hyperutecic pistons and most say they are fine for N/A engines and for low boost. It seems that detonation tears them up. I plan to S/C in the future so they may have to go... It will take some time to put this togeather but I can afford to get started on a long block now...
