I want more UMPH from my 4.6!
I am looking for any CHEAP way of adding torque and a few ponies to my 4.6L. Already have a tru dual with flows. I am currently running 35x12.5s and just want the extra umph...but don't wanna spend over a grand (and am trying to avoid voiding that ext. warranty)...any ideas, anyone?
Thanks, Brandon

K&N filter, pulleys, chip, and a mild nitrous kit should put you in under a grand. If you are worried about the NOS voiding your warranty, the kit is very easy to remove if you have to go in for major service. If nitrous isn't in your game, substitute a set of headers, a slightly larger t/b(no more than 5mm over stock..), and/or an aftermarket ignition system. I'm not definate about the truck applications but these are tried and true on the Mustang 4.6L brethren.

BigBadRedLiftedFordMan,
Change your differential gears to 4.10 or 4.30:1 Note; your front differential requires a reverse cut gear. Should cost just about $1000.00.

Welcome guys!!
I would start with pulling the restrictor from the fenderwell. The I.D. is about 3/4" smaller than the throttle body. Put a dryer duct in it's place. You can also search for threads on "Airbox mods", but make sure you keep cool air ducted into the engine. You can follow the links in my signature to get a look at my air duct.
Headers, a K&N filter, a larger throttle body, MAF, and a Superchip! It's a start!

BigBad,
Check out my sig. I absolutely agree with JMC's answer. Being that you have 35's, I would install at least 4.30's and probably 4.56's. It will feel like you added a hundred horses. Depending on what gears you have now, you may gain a fraction of a mpg. At worst you may lose a mpg. But the felt power difference will definately put a smile on your face. If I could go back and do it again, without a doubt, the gears would be the first mod. It didn't add any horsepower but it made the most difference. As I have said before, the supercharger is good but it takes a few hundred rpm to kick in. The gear change added instant grunt and is available at *all* rpm's. You won't regret it!

Needs one more door.
