Post Electric Fan on pretty quick

I started my truck this morning and shuffled stuff around in the cab and noticed that my electric fan kicked in after the engine had only been running 20 seconds. The A/C was in the off position and the ambient temp was about 55-60 F.

Is this normal?

Your SIG does not show what type of fan you have, but I will assume that you have a connection going to your A/C clutch relay. The A/C compressor will cycle in every position except PANEL and OFF. This is to try to keep the air inside the cabin dry. After the outside temp falls below 40F, the compressor should stop kicking in and your fan will not come on as soon. I hope this helps.

I thought F150's had belt driven fans.

I noticed my fan does the same thing (belt driven), maybe it's to make noise to cover up those terrible slapping noises

Thanks What Ranger but the HVAC selector was in the off position. I am aware of the compressor interlock.

Thanks.

I will have to look. I assumed it had a electric fan. Maybe the clutch kicked in.

I have been fooling with my wife's Villager too long.

If your truck has an aftermarket electric fan, it's coming on too soon. It should come on when the coolant in the radiator gets too hot or when the a/c is on.

If your truck has the original fan, it's belt driven and the clutch fan engaging and making a roaring sound is normal when you first start up in the morning. Should only last for a few seconds.
