Post looked at 99 lightning

Saw a 99 lightning loaded with 7000 miles this weekend. They wanted 26500 for it. Test drove it and wasn't that impressed with the performance. I pushed it hard and dont think it was a huge amount faster than my truck was. Plus I cant imagine those tires lasting long and they cost a fortune to replace. I was thinking if I supercharged my truck it would easily outrun that truck. Am I imagining things or was this just a poor excuse for a lightning?

Smart move, not posting this in the Lightning Forum.

Maybe you'll live.

Now, go back and drive it again.
This time pull the handle under the dash that says, "Brake".

I read the lightning FAQ and the 1/4 mile time is listed at 14.6. Now I love fast trucks but is that amount of money really worth improving the 1/4 mile by a second? Also it states the tires last for about 22000 miles conservativley. At 230 bucks a pop. Ouch!!!!!

Don't worry, you're safe here. They are not known to venture outside the Lightning Forum.

I feel safe in here. The force is strong here. I think I'd rather super my truck instead of paying that much for a regular cab. It would be worth the looks on their faces if they were beat by a normal F150.

You've gotta be joking, right? Those trucks are fast! You must not know how to drive it or when to catch the gearing right....
I've seen several magazines and 1 TV show where the Lightning beats the Cobra. YUP a Cobra! Only by 1/10th...

Some guys did a Cold Air intake, 4.10's, and Cat back and reached high 12's!!!!

They say 360 HP, but I've heard they are dynoing around 380 or more....

The Z28 LS1 says 305 HP, but I have yet to find an instance of a stock Z28 not producing 340-350 HP at the fly wheel.

Better drive a real one next time! There are a lot of F150's that look like Lightnings and ARE NOT!

With a Lightning, all you need to do is put it in "R" for race, and hammer it.

The blower does the rest.

If you were able to keep it hooked up, there was something wrong with it.

26k? nahhh! It sounds like it has been thrashed.

As stated above, it's easy to push 'em into the 12's.

They can run into the high 13's stock. A few mods and they are definetly in 12 territory.Besides they look bad as he** and people will show you more respect when you say "I have a Lightning".

Maybe the lightning had been trashed. I wouldnt know. I still think I'd have more fun hopping up my truck since it is a lot lighter than the lightnings. I saw a vortech super for a 4.6 mustang for 1500. Would that fit the f150 by any chance?

4-DLOW,
That truck of yours sounds pretty tough, do you know what type of times you get with it? I'll have to check it out sometime.
